I love the idea of baseball teams playing for something more this season.
Pearl Jam's leader Eddie Vedder grew up in San Diego and found his fame in Seattle, and now the Padres and Mariners will play for the Vedder Cup this season. Whoever wins the most out of their six games will get the Cup, which is going to have a guitar theme to it. That will be revealed in a few weeks.
The teams will play and during each series in San Diego and Seattle, the teams will be supporting the Epidermolysis Bullosa Research Partnership, a charity organization from Eddie and Jill Vedder. The charity is working to find treatments and cures for epidermolysis bullosa, a condition that causes blistering of the skin.
This is a really fun concept for baseball and I can't wait to see who wins the first annual Vedder Cup! You can see more about it from MLB by going here.
