Police Officers Stop Suicidal Teen From Jumping Off Bridge

Police in Lincoln, Nebraska managed to save the life of a suicidal teenager who attempted to jump off of a bridge that passes over a busy highway. A motorist on the highway called 911 when they saw the 15-year-old climbing a chain-link fence on the side of the bridge.

When the first police officer arrived, the teen was sliding along the fence toward the center of the bridge. The boy ignored the pleas of the officer and continued to slide further over the wall. A second officer arrived on the scene and was able to grab the boy and pull him back to safety. He was reunited with his family and was taken to receive mental health care.

"In law enforcement it's not uncommon for us to deal with this kind of circumstance and its just one of the many rewarding parts of the job where you can see someone on their worst day or in a tragic situation and because of the officers they will get another day, or another chance to go on," Lincoln Police Spokesperson Angela Sands said.
